We will have some media coverage for the club, the sport, and this event! I
have talked with a reporter from the Colorado Springs Gazette and he is
planning on running a feature piece on this event. This is planned for the
"Out There" section of the Colorado
Springs paper. He will be at several places on the course and will be
bringing out a photographer as well. He knows that this is a training event
like a local bike club ride and not a race. He is interested in interviewing a
few people and even "meeting up with them during the event". He is
interested in all types of people from first timers all the way to sponsored
teams/professionals . So if you have any interest in getting interviewed, and
maybe getting your team name some press time, please contact me off list.
I have been looking at a few changes to the course in order to keep
everyone safe because of some construction in the local area. Here are answers
to a few questions that I have been getting.
- You will NOT need a support crew, the start and finish will be at the same
spot.
- The start will be within a 1/2 mile of an exit off of I-25, so will be easy
to get to for people from out of town.
- You can do this solo or as a member of a team. I would prefer teams, but
your call.
- The Sprint and the Long course will start at the same place. This way if you
want to do the long course, and still help out a newbie at the start it will
work.
- Both courses will have several "cop-out" points so that the Sprint
people can have a few spots to say that they have had enough. I will give more
information as things move on for the beginner course to increase interest.
Here are the disciplines:
Sprint Course: trekking, Mountain biking, UTM plotting (we will help if
needed) - this is not a technical course
Long Course: Trekking, Mountain biking, Orienteering, UTM plotting
