Backyard Challenge IX
race report

The race started at 9:15 AM with a 2 mile bike ride on snow covered roads. Racers then had to transition to snowshoeing, pulling a sled with a 60-pound sandbag in it. They dropped off the sleds after pulling them 3/4 of a mile uphill. From here they had to climb a pretty steep hill & find a CP among the rocks at the top. They descended some and then traversed to the rope section. Here they had to connect to the rope with an ascender because of the steepness of the snow field. After the ropes they had to navigate in furious winds & snow, above tree line, to find 4 more CPs. After the 4 CPs were found they descended back into the trees, hooked up to the sleds & raced back to the finish line.
