May 31 2003 - Chatfield Reservoir, Colorado

Overview

I'm designing the course so that it can be run as a stand-alone training day. So those teams that are unable to make it can give it a try on any other day. If you haven't signed up please do so ASAP and let all your friends know.

I found a very neat area to integrate some rope work into the course. I am hoping for a Tyrolean Traverse over a waterfall, but if that doesn't pan out a rappel is almost guaranteed. Below is a list of required and suggested gear. I attempted to make a complete list for the less experienced individuals. I suggest everyone comes equipped with long pants (a good defense against the nappy shrubbery throughout the course) and prepared for river crossings. Teams will need to purchase the Kassler Quad, and will be required to plot UTM coordinates the morning of the race as Adam had us do for the last NO FAWAP.

There are a few individuals looking to join a team, so I will work to help that process out. Experienced soloists are acceptable, but teams are encouraged for safety and team dynamic reasons.

The start/finish will be at the Catfish Flats Picnic Area. After entering the park turn right at the first 'T' intersection then make a left about .5 miles down along a big bend in the road.

The race will start at 8:00am, suggest arrival is 7:30 or sooner. The fee to enter the park is $6/vehicle. If you don't carpool with teammates, drop a car at the corner of Wadsworth and Deer creek Canyon Rd to save the extra park fees (first light south of C470 on the right.) Camping is also available for $12/site.
