June 16, 2002 - Lyons, Colorado

Email from David Weber, dated May 17

Following the conclusion of BYC 5, I talked with Cammie for some time about putting on another BYC. It's going to happen on Sunday June 16th. The course will start approximately 30 minutes by car from Boulder and will require a support person and car.

The disciplines at a minimum will include trekking/running, mountain biking, and orienteering/navigating. Overall the complete course should take between 8 to 10 hours to complete. Registration will be limited to co-ed teams of 3 or 4. Please contact me if you are in need of team-mates and I will do my best to match up folks with teams in need of members. Unfortunately, for safety reasons no soloists will be allowed.

Updates will be forwarded to the list, so at least one member of the team MUST be signed up with the FROG list - its the only way to guarantee that you'll have all of the information for the race. We're still in the early planning stages, so additional information will be posted as things develop. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about the BYC, please contact me davidw303@hotmail.com

Now for the legalities...Please note that this course is entirely on open public property. No access permissions or permits have been sought. You will be expected to respect any posted / private property signs encountered and to follow all land-use rules. The BYC is a non-profit club sponsored training event to allow AR teams of all ability levels an opportunity to practice in a fully supported competitive environment. If you are a member and would like to help by volunteering and/or testing the course on an earlier date (weekend) please contact me.
